Simplexifying Sustainability
How can sustainability science avoid paralysis in the face of complexity and ensure it catalyses
Let’s work together toward a world that is more sustainable, resilient, equitable, and resource-secure for all
Our most pressing global challenges, food insecurity, water scarcity, energy poverty, and climate disruption, do not respect sectoral boundaries.
Neither does my work.
For over 15 years, I have worked across research, policy, and practice to advance systems approaches to sustainable development, with a focus on the interconnections between water, energy, food systems, and human and planetary health.
My core conviction is that complexity should not be a barrier to action. At the intersection of research, capacity development, stakeholder engagement, innovation programming, and network building, I develop contextualized frameworks, tools, and innovative approaches that make the management and governance of interconnected systems more actionable, equitable, and evidence-based.
This work has taken me across disciplines and geographies: from university research at Texas A&M, Purdue, and Qatar Foundation to advisory roles with UN agencies, international development organizations, and the private sector; from community-engaged projects in Texas to policy dialogues across the Middle East.
Across all of these contexts, the common thread has been enabling collective action among researchers, policymakers, communities, and practitioners to build more resilient and resource-secure futures.
I created this website as a space to share my publications, projects, and evolving thinking. Whether you’re a researcher, practitioner, policymaker, or funder working at similar intersections, welcome to my website. The challenges outlined above are too interconnected for any person or institution to tackle alone. If you see opportunities to work together, I’d love to hear from you.
